AT&T codes: star codes, USSD codes, and self-service shortcuts

Replace <number> with a plain 10-digit destination, no spaces or dashes, and press the call button rather than just entering the string. AT&T replies with a short confirmation message within a few seconds. If nothing comes back, the code was treated as a normal call, which almost always means a missing trailing hash.

These are the interrogation codes. They change nothing, they just ask the network what is set, and they are the fastest way to find out whether something is quietly redirecting your calls:

Worth knowing: *#21# circulated widely as a way to check whether your phone had been hacked. It does not detect spyware. It reports call-diversion settings and nothing else, and on most lines it returns a perfectly normal result showing voicemail as the destination. What *#21# actually means covers that in full.
